The reproduction of fine art is a fine art in itself. One that we take very seriously. In 1976, Printing, Inc., established a division devoted solely to fine art reproduction. Over the years, we've established excellent relationships with a number of artists, who've come to trust us to reproduce their work with care and accuracy.
Many artists come to us after having less than satisfactory experiences with other printers. They've discovered that while anyone can print fine art, not many printers can do it to the satisfaction of the artist. We've found that close communication with the artist from beginning to end is the key.
Starting with a high-resolution digital file from color transparency or high-end digital camera, our formula for success begins with color accuracy at the pre-press stage. Using specially formulated fade-resistant inks, acid-free archival quality papers, state-of-the-art presses, and a knowledge of the subtle interfaces between ink and paper, we bridge the gap between Fine Art and Technology - and give life to art.
The same digital files used for lithographs can be re-sized for use in art catalogues, brochures, and promotional pieces. With our oversized equipment, we can often print multiple images - enabling an artist to run postcards, note cards, and promotional pieces on the same press run.
As a form of fine art reproduction, IRIS GICLEES have finally come into their own. Giclee is a French word meaning "to spray". Iris Giclee is a term used to describe fine art prints produced on an Iris Inkjet Printer, which, through microscopic nozzles, spray millions of ink droplets per second onto a choice of fine art paper or canvas. Artists are discovering new markets for these high quality prints, and finding them to be an excellent way to test the market for a given piece before investing in a full press run.
